SeaTools for Windows is a simple, neat, and handy program that lets you perform various tests in order to benchmark and diagnose your Seagate storage drives. This powerful tool can be used to test various types of storage drives and devices, including SATA, USB, 1394, ATA (PATA/IDE) and SCSI drives.

It comes with a neat and intuitive interface, allowing even complete beginners to use this tool without any problem. It organizes tests in two categories: Basic tests that can be easily performed by anyone and Advanced ones that should be performed only by professionals in order to avoid potential issues like data loss or system crashes. Basic tests are completely data safe and include disk S.M.A.R.T. data check, drive self tests, and generic checks. Unfortunately, there is no notification after its completion whether the test was passed or not.

The program is mainly meant to be a first resort solution when you notice computer trouble and want to know if it’s related to the storage device or not. If all the tests reveal that the discs are fine, then you should be able to know that you can move on to other troubleshooting maneuvers.

In conclusion, SeaTools for Windows is a handy disk checking tool and the fact that it’s provided for free should make it even more desirable.
